Scarlet Nantes Carrot
Scarlet Nantes Carrot
Sweet, crunchy, fresh, and crisp! Uniform cylindrical roots are great for both snacking and winter storage. This strain of Scarlet Nantes came from a mix of genetics from John Navazio and Uprising seed. It has been grown and selected on Twisp River for 12 years. We’ve had them kept in the root cellar until May and they retain their sweet delicious crunch. But BEWARE, never store them in the same fridge or cellar with apples or other ethylene producing fruits, it causes them to get bitter and taste like soap! (This is true for all types of carrots and potatoes too.)

Why choose locally grown, regionally adapted seeds?
✿ Our seeds are intentionally bred to maximize resilience, be resistant to pests and diseases, produce vigorously, and taste delicious.
✿ That means our seeds come from plants grown right here and have started the process of acclimating to this region, which makes them easier to grow.
✿ We aim to work our land in a way that honors our human and more-than-human kin in the water, soil, and air.
